Download Project and Movie Files

STEP ONE: Set up you video tracks.

For this tutorial you need 4 video tracks. To get more video tracks click on an empty section in the timeline(circled) and select ADD VIDEO TRACK. Do this twice.

Your timeline should now look like this.

Drag DOOR.BMP into video tracks ONE and THREE, then drag GREEN.BMP into track TWO.

STEP TWO: Create a Track Matte.

Go to FILE> NEW> TITLE>

You should get the following screen.

Select the tool circled below and create a rectangle that covers the entire screen by clicking the top left corner and draging to the bottom right corner

Now you need to change the rectangles color by clicking the color select box that the arrow above is pointing at.

In the screen that comes up change the settings to the following.

Now create a rectangle that looks like this.

This time when you change the colors, change the settings to:

Red: 255
Green: 255
Blue: 255

Exit the Title Designer by clicking the X in the top right corner. It will ask you if you want to save, select yes.

STEP THREE: Set the key types.

Now the title you just created will be in your bin (circled). Drag it into VIDEO FOUR

Your timeline should look like this.

Right-Click DOOR.BMP in video 3 and select Video Options> Transparency.

In the screen that comes up set the key type to TRACK MATTE

If your sample window looks like this, you need to fix something.

Just click on the REVERSE KEY checkbox to get it to look like this.

You must make sure that the circled icon is selected to have an accurate preview.

Click OK

Right-Click GREEN.BMP in video 2 and select Video Options> Transparency.

For Key Type select Chroma.

Now key out the green. If you don't know how, read Green Screening for Premiere

Click OK

STEP FOUR: Make him shrink.

Now select the transform filter, in version 6.0 it is located in the perspective folder. In 6.5 it is located in the distort folder.

Drop the filter on to GREEN.BMP in video 2

Click on the arrow circled above to get the following screen.

Now click the icon circled above to get to the keyframe controls.

Click on the black arrow circled above to automatically go to the first key frame.

In the Effect Controls change the settings to the following.

Move the slider roughly to 2 seconds on the timeline and click the box circled below to add a key frame. This is where he will start to shrink.

Now move the slider to about the 4 second mark and click on the add keyframe box (like you did above).

In the effect controls box change the transform settings to the following.

Now the guy should shrink. Most likely, after he shrinks he will bounce back to his original size.

to fix this click on the black arrow circled below to get to the last keyframe, and change the Effect Control settings to match the one directly above.

Now we must fix the weirdness that surrounds the guy.

Right Click GREEN.BMP in video 2 and select COPY.

Next, Right-Click the title you created in video 4 and select Paste Attributes.

The following box should appear.

Change it from CONTENT to SETTINGS.

STEP FIVE: Add the audio.
All that's left is to add the sound. Drag the file SHRINK.WAV onto one of the audio tracks and put the beginning of the audio right on the first keyframe like in the picture below.

Right-Click SHRINK.WAV in the Audio Track and select SPEED.

Set it to 58%.

Thats it! Its easy to set how fast he shrinks. Just drag the third keyframe to the left to make him shrink faster, and drag it to the right to make him shrink slower. Just adjust the speed of SHRINK.WAV accordingly to get the sound right.
