Filming for the Shrink
Effect by Rocky
Murray
Camera Setup
1. Unless you have a large budget and
huge greenscreen, most of your shots need to be level with the
shrunken person. You can't film from the ceiling down, unless you
can recreate that angle on your greenscreen.
Things to be careful for.
1. Follow all the rules for a good key.
2.
Always put the shrunken person directly where the large actor is
looking, so they make eye contact. This really sells the effect.
3. Unless you have weeks to edit this, you might as well
make things easy on yourself. Its possible to grab the shrunken
person around the waist and carry him, although this could take
forever to edit. You might as well have the little guy jump on the
open palm of your hand, where you don't have to use any masks.
